Date: Friday, Nov. 23

Time: 3 p.m. ET

PPV: B/R Live, DirecTV and AT&T U-Verse

Distributed on the following cable providers: Comcast, Charter, Cox, Verizon, Altice

On Friday, either Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods will see his riches grow from the outrageous to the obscene, thanks to The Match, the long-ballyhooed, $9 million, winner-take-all, 18-hole showdown between two golfers who haven’t always been the best of buddies.

“It’s a ridiculous amount of money,” Mickelson told Golf’s Alan Shipnuck in August. “No matter how much money you have, this amount will take both of us out of our comfort zone.”

But think of it this way: It can also put one of them into an even more superior comfort zone.

The golfers will make side bets along the way, with those sums going to charities. That led to some headlines earlier this week when the longtime rivals wagered $200,000 on the first hole.

“I’m willing to risk $100,000 that says I birdie the first hole,” Mickelson said during a joint news conference. “So that’s how good I feel heading into this match. You don’t have to take it, but I’m going to throw that out there.”

“So you think you can make birdie on the first hole,” Woods said, to which Mickelson replied, “I know I’m going to make birdie on the first hole.”

“Double it,” Woods answered.

If that media event occasionally felt forced, just wait.

“Can you get in Phil Mickelson’s head,” Woods was asked this month.

“Well, I’ve been in Phil’s head for 20-some-odd years,” Woods replied with a laugh. “Just look at the W total.”

Iron Bowl 2018

Iron Bowl 2018 Live: Auburn’s season has been a disappointment. The Tigers began 2018 as a top 10 team and started the year by beating a very good Washington team.

2018 Iron Bowl

2018 Iron Bowl Then came the losses. Against LSU (reasonable). Against Mississippi State (huh.). Against Tennessee (oh no). Against Georgia (reasonable, but also Auburn’s last chance to prove its top 25 bonafides). But Gus Malzahn can still salvage the season with one monster win during rivalry week.

The Iron Bowl will pit the Tigers against top-ranked Alabama in one of college football’s fiercest rivalries. As optimistic as Malzahn may be, oddsmakers aren’t confident the animosity in Bryant-Denny Stadium will translate to a competitive game on the field. The Crimson Tide, led by Heisman Trophy frontrunner Tua Tagovailoa, opened the week as a 24-point favorite.

Auburn vs Alabama prediction:
The S&P+ ratings unsurprisingly name ‘Bama the nation’s top team. Auburn clocks in at No. 15 despite four losses and a record that includes a win over Washington and zero other top 25 teams. That suggests the Tigers have a fighting chance Saturday … but have you seen Alabama this year? Tide by 30.

Tiger vs Phil

Tiger vs Phil: Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will tee it up on Friday in Las Vegas for The Match, which will feature loads of cash ($9 million to the winner), plenty of side bets (Mickelson already put $200,000 on the table that he would birdie the first hole) and what should be one of the more unique golf viewing experiences we’ve ever had.

There will be a lot going on on Friday for those who fork over the $19.99 to watch a few hours of two of the best to ever play the game going at it on the course (and on the mic). The presentation will include live odds on a variety of shots, drone footage and on-course interviews with the players. It’s also uncensored (and you can wager on how much the two golfers will curse).

“This event is designed to be a unique experience for a golf viewer, and to have an insight into what goes on with the players to create a production from drone coverage to on-screen gambling to live mics and interaction,” said Mickelson on Tuesday.

Tiger vs Phil Live will fight it out for supremacy in Capital One’s The Match on Friday, with the winner ready to collect $9 million (£7 million) for victory. Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. will host the unique exhibition spectacle, with two of the world’s greatest golfers preparing for one-on-one combat.

“It’s an insight into the game that you’re not normally able to see. That’s why we’ve chosen each decision. It’s why it’s on pay-per-view. We had to eliminate the commercials to have that insight in between shots.”

And speaking of that pay-per-view decision, here’s a look at the schedule of events so you can watch all the action on whatever device you want.
